Exam Information

The appointment is scheduled as a free screening with one of our LASIK counselors. After checking your glasses/contacts, auto refraction, corneal topography, brief medical history and confirmation that all readings are stable, you meets with the doctor and he will determine your candidacy for the procedure. At that point you are given the option to continue with the remainder of the exam (with dilation) or to return at another time. At that time the doctor will check your corneal thickness (pachometry) and pupil size (pupillometry) to confirm candidacy for the LASIK procedure.

Dr. Keehn personally performs all laser vision correction examinations.

Enhancement Policy

Dr. Keehn waives his fee if an enhancement (think of it as a touch up surgery) is needed after LASIK, however, the surgery center charges $150 per eye. We do not include this fee in the initial payment, as it is very rare to need an enhancement. Dr. Keehn will advise you prior to your LASIK procedure of the possibility of needing an enhancement based on your refractive error. (It is more likely with higher degrees of nearsightedness and/or astigmatism).

Treatment Range

Our LASIK criteria is for nearsightedness up to -9.00D with or without astigmatism, and farsightedness up to +4.00D with NO astigmatism.

Continuous Improvement

"Using the Bausch and Lomb Technolas Laser and the Amadeus Microkeratome, we have been extremely pleased with our results and have had to alter our nomogram minimally."

A nomogram is a doctors database of a large number of variables and their effects on the outcome of all the surgeries the doctor has ever performed. The purpose of this is to compile experience, so for example if a patient has an odd corneal thickness, and the doctor has had experience with similar patients, the doctor can then see how best to approach the surgery for the individual. If a doctor says he has had little need to alter his nomogram, that means he has had a succesful record of initial surgeries.
