Dr. Peter Jensen specializes in laser vision correction and small incision cataract surgery, but also offers treatment for glaucoma, retinal problems and eye plastic surgery. It has been his goal to provide the highest quality, most technologically advanced eye care possible. He has performed many thousands of eye surgeries in over 23 years of practice in Nampa to correct a wide variety of ophthalmic problems. Dr. Jensen began performing refractive surgery several years ago and was among the first surgeons in Idaho to offer radial keratotomy (RK) and astigmatic keratotomy (AK) for nearsightedness and astigmatism correction.
Dr. Jensen began offering laser vision correction in 1995 when PRK was first approved by the FDA for treatment of nearsightedness and he is certified to perform laser treatments with both the Summit and VISX lasers. LASIK is now offered as the most advanced surgery available for farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism.
After his undergraduate education at Oregon State University, Dr. Jensen received his medical training at the University of Oregon Medical School where he graduated magna cum laude. He was honored by his peers in medical school where he was the recipient of the Gold Headed Cane Award. Dr. Jensen served his internship at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, CA. His ophthalmology education was at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, after which he achieved his certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Jensen is currently serving as President of the Idaho Society of Ophthalmology.
