FREE Screening
During the free screening some simple tests will be done (not requiring dilation) to determine your candidacy for the procedure. Pricing will be discussed in detail, financing options covered, and the patient will have the opportunity to meet the doctor. The purpose of the screening is to introduce you to the practice and answer any questions you may have, giving you the ability to make an informed decision to proceed. Screenings are typically scheduled on Tuesday afternoons and evenings, alternate Fridays, and occasional Saturday mornings, but other times can be arranged by request.

VISX laser systems have features that translate into several advantages for you: |
- VISX laser systems produce the smoothest surface on the cornea after the procedure.
Smoother ablations, as they're known, promote faster healing and result in better vision.
- VISX laser systems allow the doctor to track your eye movement in all three dimensions
during the treatment, for greater control.
- VISX laser systems achieve an optical zone that may result in reduced problems with
night vision
- VISX ActiveTrakTM laser systems produce seven variable
sized beams, giving the doctor greater flexibility and allowing for a faster, smoother treatment
with precise corneal shaping.
- VISX laser systems require a shorter procedure time, which enhances comfort and may reduce the
risk of postoperative complications.

Continuous Improvement
The biggest advantage to choosing a refractive surgeon like Dr. Pankratz is that he has had vast experience in treating patients just like you since 1996. Why is this important? Because each patient he treats with laser vision correction allows him to learn more about his results. He has developed a "nomogram" that specifies the expected outcome for his patients based on age, degree of correction, and many other factors. This software program continuously looks at Dr. Pankratz's results and generates new nomograms with each patient treated. Other facilities and surgeons may give you results based on a group of doctors in a national database, or perhaps from a study conducted by the laser manufacturer, instead of representing the individual surgeon's actual results. It is because of advanced nomograms such as this that Dr. Pankratz has one of the best success rates and lowest enhancement rates around. Also, using this nomogram, we can show you what statistical chance you have of getting 20/20 vision after laser vision correction by comparing the results of patients of similar age and refractive error.
