Cataracts

A
cataract is a clouding of the eye's
clear crystalline lens. It is usually
the result of aging. Because cataracts
often progress slowly, most patients
are unaware that they have a visual
problem as their brain's perception
of what they see has accepted this compromised
vision.
Dr. Robbins always uses the latest and
safest techniques of cataract removal.
Presently she performs a no shot, no
stitch procedure employing a small incision
using an acrylic or silicone implant.
This allows for a rapid return of vision.
Most patients resume their normal activities
within twenty-four hours.

Diagnosis
and Treatment
After
a dilated eye examination, Dr. Robbins
can evaluate the severity of the clouded
lens and health of the optic nerve and
retina. It is important to note that
there comes a point when not having
the cataract removed can impede an optimal
visual result. In most cases, if the
optic nerve and retina are healthy,
clear vision will be restored.
